Birthday Boy

C'mon Mr Bartender pour me another beer It's time for a party I've survived another year

Got some money in my pocket and I intend to spend it here

Put a dollar in the juke box play me some rock and roll I wanna hear some music that doesn't make me feel too old

And if my lucks in tonight you know I might find a woman to hold

I been working all day long I been thinking that feels so wrong Now it's time to chill right out of that there ain't no doubt

Pour me a chaser we need to make this party swing no matter what's in the bottle you can pour me anything

it's time to rock and roll it's time to make the rafters ring

Happy Birthday my friend are the words you're looking for we're gonna have a lock in go ahead and bolt that door

C'mon Mr Bartender pour me another beer It's time for a party I've survived another year

Got some money in my pocket and I intend to spend it here

Trouble

I know that it's wrong but it's been so long on my lover I have depended
But she's gone away for a year and a day how can I be defended
I built stone walls and I tried not to fall and up to now things have been ok
But sweet temptress in your satin dress I can't last another day

You are the capital T in trouble you are the reason I will fall and stumble
I know I should turn around and run away to someplace new
'Cos trouble is all I can expect from you

On the night that she went my good lover spent some time making me contented
And when she finds out what this is all about I just know she's gonna be offended
I'll be shot down in flames she'll spit out your name the suitcase will be in the hall
And I'll wonder how I could be such a clown for no valid reason at all

Dreams sometimes come true

Let my arms surround you let me hold you tight lay here beside me make everything right
Just close your eyes the sandman is near as you drift away to sleep these words you will hear
Let me be in your dreams 'cos I want you in mine

And I want you beside me right to the end of the line
And if you should start to believe that it's all a waste of time

Let me tell you dreams sometimes come true

I searched all of my life for somebody who could steal away my heart and always be true
Who could have believed that all I wished for could be right here beside me how could I want more

The Preacher

Well the preacher looked at me and he said you are a fool
You're dancing down the highway you don't even know the rules
Armageddon's at the crossroads and you don't know which way to go
I said how right you are as if I didn't know
But I have everything I need with my woman at my side
Don't need religion from you to keep her satisfied

Then he's telling me that I should change my ways
Find my way back to righteousness and I should spend my days
Relying on the good book and hearing every word
I said whoa mr preacher what you're saying is absurd
No no no I've really got to go keep your gospel for some other soul
I do believe that it's time I was heading down the road

I guess I kind of drift through life hoping for the best and up to now
Somehow I have muddled through and if I told the truth I dont know how
But every day that passes by and even though I don't know why
I'm grateful that I made it to the end
And hopefully tomorrow if I'm fortunate I'll do the same again

Those little years

When you look back upon your childhood years do you find good or bad you remember them well

As my eyes gaze upon old photographs friends that I knew and tales I could tell

Return to my mind like yesterday as I recall the games we'd play and suddenly
I'm Roy Rogers and me and Trigger are riding down the sidewalk and we're trying to figure

Where the indians have gone they've just up and gone

I guess i'll get the kids from the other side of town we'll form a posse we'll track them down

Oh no where have all those little years gone

Nothing much on the TV set computers weren't invented yet

We didn't text our friends we went round to call

Money was in short supply but we never wondered why

There was just enough as I recall

Remeniscing now on those times my childhood friends are back in my mind and suddenly
I'm Lone Ranger and me and Tonto are riding down the sidewalk and we're trying to figure

Where the bad guys are gone they've just up and gone

I guess I'll get the kids from the other side of town we'll form a posse we'll track them down

Oh no where have all those little years gone

Suddenly I am Tonto and me and Scout are riding down the sidewalk trying to figure out

Where Kemo sabe's gone he's just up and gone

I guess I'll get the kids from the other side of town we'll form a posse we'll track him down

Oh no where have all those little years gone

Just You

If you should place your hand upon my heart and feel the beating start

It only beats for you just you

If you should ask the reason I am here today I would say

It's you just you
I swear by all the stars above you can always count upon my love for you just you
When a sorrow in your mind turns to teardrops in your eyes

You will find that I am here for you just you

For there is not a sunset or a star can compare to how you are

Not you not you

If you were suddenly not mine my heart would break a thousand times for you just you
And when I look into your eye I see the reason why I'd give my life and die for you just you

The 65 Jive

Rebecca she worked the coffee bars and she did well serving up espresso to the clientele

But Friday brought a change in this mademoiselle it was the weekend again

Although she worked and lived in an uptown zone making up the lattes and the ice cream cones

She couldn't wait to get back to some rock and roll and hit the dance floor again

Ballroom 65 was the place to be seen and Becky was acknowledged as the rock and roll queen

The 65 ballroom had a rock and roll band that everybody reckoned was the greatest in the land

When they began to rock the place came alive and Becky was the star of the 65 ballroom jive

Well she honed her skills jiving at the high school hop

When that rock and roll music played she just couldn't stop

That driving beat was enough to send her insane she's got to dance again

A Love Song

If I write a love song for you and I sing that love song to you

Would you think that I was just saying words

Or would you realise that you're always on my mind

To me you're my entire world

If ever there were soulmates that must be you and me

That we should be together is how it's meant to be
And when I reach for your hand as we lay there in the dark

Oh my love how I truly understand how true love can break your heart

So I wrote this love song for you and as I sing it to you

You might think it's quite a simple tune

But all that its revealing is simply how I'm feeling

All you need to know is I love you
